I Am The Bridge (2023)

I Am The Bridge (2023) is a documentary film from the point-of-view of Mélisande Short-Colomb – a chef, a mother, a daughter, a student, a teacher, an activist, an artist, and a GU272 Descendant. In 2017, leaving her home in New Orleans, Méli took up Georgetown’s offer of preferential admission, enrolled in Georgetown’s College of Arts and Sciences, and engaged with the university’s liberal arts curriculum, negotiating the challenges of living and learning at a predominantly white institution. Méli inspired and supported historic student activism, ultimately moving away from the pursuit of a degree to develop her own dramatic and artistic statement. Over her four year journey, Méli calls attention to the sins of Jesuit Slaveholding, their legacies in the present, and the limitations and possibilities of higher education to produce true reconciliation for racial injustice.

I Am The Bridge is currently screening at conferences and festivals.
